Plasma Factor XIII Accelerates Bone Formation in the Treatment of Bone Defects

ثبت نشده
چکیده

INTRODUCTION: Callus distraction is a well-accepted method for treating large bone defects. Unfortunately, the time for the maturation of a newly formed regenerate is long and can lead to complications. A method which would allow the acceleration of the maturation process would shorten the treatment time, reduce the costs and would be a great benefit for the patients. Plasma factor XIII has demonstrated an enhancing effect on the proliferation of osteoblasts [1] and fibroblast [2], and for the healing of diaphyseal fractures [3]. Therefore, the hypothesis should be tested whether plasma factor XIII can also accelerate bone formation after callus distraction.

Objective(s):To study the effect of low-frequency vibration on bone marrow stromal cell differentiation and potential bone repair in vivo. Materials and Methods:Forty New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into five groups with eight rabbits in each group. For each group, bone defects were generated in the left humerus of four rabbits, and in the right humerus of the other four rabbits. To t...

The effect of freeze-dried bone allograft and partially demineralized freeze-dried bone allograft on regeneration of rabbit calvarial bone defects: A Histological and histomorphometric study

Background and Aims: Reconstruction of osseous defects is one of the ideal goals of periodontal treatments and dental implant therapy. Different biomaterials have been used for this purpose and many studies have tried to compare and introduce the best ones. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of PDFDB (Partially Demineralized Freeze-Dried Bone Graft) and FDBA (Freeze Dried Bone Allog...

Histomorphometric Analysis of Newly-formed Bone Using Octacalcium Phosphate and Bone Matrix Gelatin in Rat Tibial Defects

Background: Repair of bone defects is challenging for reconstructive and orthopedic surgeons. In this study, we aimedto histomorphometrically assess new bone formation in tibial bone defects filled with octacalcium phosphate (OCP),bone matrix gelatin (BMG), and a combination of both. Methods: A total of 96 male Sprague Dawley rats aged 6-8 weeks weighing 120-150 g were randomly allocatedinto thr...

Presentation of a novel model of chitosan- polyethylene oxide-nanohydroxyapatite nanofibers together with bone marrow stromal cells to repair and improve minor bone defects

Objective(s):Various methods for repairing bone defects are presented. Cell therapy is one of these methods. Bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) seem to be suitable for this purpose. On the other hand, lots of biomaterials are used to improve and repair the defect in the body, so in this study we tried to produce a similar structure to the bone by the chitosan and hydroxyapatite. Materials and Me...
